Remember the 3 R's
I remember as a young girl in school learning how to recycle and use these 3 R's in order to keep our city litter free and beautiful. They say in order to learn the biggest lessons and make the biggest impact its best to go back to basics and the 3 R's are the number one way I believe we can help end plastic pollution.
- Reduce the amount of non recyclable plastic items you buy or use for a long and healthy life. Researchers are finding carcinogens in plastic are linked to cancer, diabetes, autism and birth defects. You can reduce that amount of non recyclable plastic you buy by purchasing items made of materials such as glass, wood, or paper instead.
- Reuse plastic items you have in your home and create works of art. If you have items that are plastic that are not recyclable, you can do your part by reusing them or buying reusable items made of another material. This includes what we call Up-cycling or using that item to serve a new or different purpose than it did before. There are many creative ways to reuse plastic items that range from practical day to day uses or making things like artwork.
Recycle all of the recyclable items you have in your home to grow your income and add to your savings. Each bottle you recycle can earn you up to 10cents, that means recycling just 10 bottles can earn you up to $1, or each recyclable bottle you buy you are saving 10cents. I wouldn't quit my day job but this is great piggy bank money to save for children's future. Speaking of children's future, did you know it takes plastic 500 years to decompose! That means that our great, great, great, great, grandchildren will be living with the trash and wast we make today if we don't reuse or dispose of it wisely.
Applying these 3 R's can cause you to Live a Longer, Healthier, Wealthier and more Creative Life!
